Since graduating from London’s Kingston Polytechnic in 1979, Matthew Hilton has built a following for his innovative, gorgeously crafted furniture and lighting, with pieces held in the permanent collections of London’s Geffrye and Victoria & Albert Museums, among others. His Cross Extension Table (2005) features an ingenious splayed-leg base, which maximizes user legroom while providing impressive stability. Finished with a solid-wood chamfered edge for comfort and durability, the tabletop has a locking steel mechanism that easily opens to accommodate the table’s additional leaves. Cross can seat up to 12 people depending on chair size. Made in Lithuania. One table, three sizes. Simply pull one end of the table and the top smoothly expands, allowing insertion of up to two leaves for three possible table lengths: 78.75", 98.5" and 118.25". After guests depart, store the leaves in the felt-lined compartment under the top – a feature that eliminates the “find the leaf” drama before gatherings.
Ethnicraft specializes in creating warm, inviting furniture that is as enduring aesthetically as it is structurally. Showcasing the beauty of natural materials, its Mikado Dining Table is crafted from sustainably harvested solid oak, celebrating rather than hiding the beautiful variations found in wood, including color and grain characteristics, knots, medullary rays, and other unique traits. It features a sizable top with beveled edges and legs that overlap in stunning fashion for a different look from every angle. Made in Indonesia.
Architect Eero Saarinen was a genius at creating expressive sculptural forms. From his TWA Terminal (now the TWA Hotel) at New York’s JFK Airport to the Gateway Arch in St. Louis to his Pedestal Table (1956), there’s a magic in everything he created. The Saarinen Dining Table, as he explained in a 1956 Time magazine cover story, was designed to “clear up the slum of legs in the U.S. home.” Later that year, he completed the Pedestal Table, which stands on a gracefully shaped cast-aluminum base. This is the authentic Pedestal Table by Knoll. It’s stamped with the KnollStudio logo and Eero Saarinen’s signature. Tabletop made in Italy or U.S.A., depending on material.
A round table with soft edges gives a relaxed impression in a room.
The natural bamboo makes this table light and versatile, but the hardwearing material is also warm and inviting. The bent wood enhances the Scandinavian expression.
The oak top layer and dovetail joints give the table a solid, crafted expression. This table is full of character and since it’s round, you can always find space for at least one more friend.
