A DWR exclusive, the Piscina Collection (2023) strikes the perfect marriage between the tonality of natural stone and the contemporary look of a high-gloss finish. Australian designer Sarah Ellison chose neutral Turkish cosmos marble for the top because it works beautifully with the warm tones of the beige-grey glossy finish on the legs.
Following his apprenticeship with the legendary Constantin Brancusi, sculptor Isamu Noguchi began to experiment in environmental design, theatrical sets – he was the only designer that choreographer Martha Graham would work with – and, eventually, product design. He created his first furniture prototypes for Herman Miller in 1942 and went on to work with companies such as Steuben and Zenith. The Noguchi Table (1948) conceals nothing, revealing everything about the nature of simplicity. Two smoothly shaped pieces of solid wood interlock to form a tripod that supports a thick glass tabletop. The base is available in black, walnut, white oak, and white ash, the latter of which is finished with a process that arrests the wood in its freshly cut state, resulting in a creamy white color that will not turn yellow over time. This is the authentic Noguchi Table by Herman Miller. A stamp of authenticity. To signify its authenticity, this table etched with Noguchi's signature in two places: on the longest edge of the glass tabletop and on a medallion underneath the base. It also holds a registered trademark for its unique configuration.
After earning a degree in furniture design from Leeds Metropolitan University in England, Marc Krusin cofounded the design group Codice 31 and has collaborated with Piero Lissoni, Kartell, Flos and Knoll. Seeing a need for simple and sophisticated guest seating and occasional tables, he created his Krusin Coffee Table (2011) with glass or marble top. The strong geometry of this piece is softened with radius and chamfer details. Suitable for residential or commercial use.
